Isabel joined the Cusmapa Women's Basket Cooperative in 2006 when Fabretto Children’s Foundation created the cooperative to promote empowerment and economic growth in the community. She said each basket takes 30 hours to make by hand. Her income from the basket cooperative allows her to send her children to school. She hopes to empower other women in Nicaragua.
